It's Time For The Progressive Community To Shi*t Or Get Off The Pot.

Barack Obama inherited one of the biggest messes in the history of the United States of America. Two wars and a collapsed economy, just to mention a few.
When Barack Obama was running for President he said change wouldn't come easy and he would need help. So what have we done to help him and cover his back? I ask this question because I've watched the progressive community allow the Tea Party folks to own the streets and take over the Town-Hall meetings during the spring, summer and fall of 2009. I was on the streets and at Town-Hall meetings to see this first hand. Not only did I see it, Mike Watt and I shot photos and videos of these events and Richard Dillon wrote about them eloquently.

To Jack, Robert and Teddy Kennedy, Thank You

Tonight my heart is heavy with the passing of Ted Kennedy. It's like the end of an era.
I've been on a journey with the Kennedy brothers, even though I've never met them, since 1959 and the journey has been filled with good and bad times, but the results of that journey can't be denied. The Kennedy's were inspirational and they made a difference.
The Kennedy's taught me and millions more to dream and believe in our dreams. Ted Kennedy, the last of the Kennedy brothers, was buried tonight but his legacy will live forever, and even though my heart is heavy my dreams are still alive and I feel fortunate to have witnessed this part of American history.
A quote from Paul Wellstone comes to my mind when I think of the Kennedy brothers: “The future will not belong to those who sit on the sidelines. The future will not belong to the cynics. The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”---Paul Wellstone
The Kennedy's didn't sit on the sidelines and I believe history will reward them for that.

Pray In Jesus Name?

As many of you know Richard Dillon and I have started a new site and when I read his article "Religous Hate in Western Kentucky Borders on the Occult" I was moved by what's going on not only in Western Kentucky, but what's going on in the rural areas of Kentucky.
To ignore this sort of stuff and call these folks racist, Jesus freaks or idiots will not resolve what's going on. I suggest it will take a real effort to change the environment these folks live in. I further suggest to ignore what's going on in Rural Kentucky would be a huge mistake by those that claim to be progressives.
I believe it's the responsibility of progressives to expose these folks for what they are and fight to change the environment that allows this sort of stuff to flourish.
