Conway Raises More Than $1.325 Million for Senate Campaign
“Kentuckians are ready for new leadership,” says Jack ConwayRecord Breaking: No other Democratic U.S. Senate candidate in Kentucky history has raised more money in a quarter.
Louisville, Ky - In an eye-popping effort, Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway, candidate for the United States Senate, will report raising more than $1.325 million for the June 30 Federal Election report in his bid to replace incumbent United States Senator Jim Bunning. It seems someone is playing games with fake Twitter accounts and the Democratic primary. I think this has gone too far and hope the AG will look into it.
Below is a screen shot of the latest Fake Jacob Payne Twitter entry.
I may have some info that will help find out who the culprit is and look forward to discussing it with the AG office should they contact me.
Progressives In Rural America
Is it possible that Jim Bunning contacted Governor Steve Beshear and told him if the Republicans fielded a candidate against him in the primary, he, Jim Bunning would resign from the Senate and Governor Steve Beshear could replace him with a Democrat? Could it be that's why Governor Steve Beshear endorsed Daniel Mongiardo as the Democratic Candidate for the US Senate? Is it possible that supporters of Jack Conway, like Jerry Abramson, Greg Stumbo, Crit Luallen, Congressman John Yarmuth and Congressman Ben Chandler got wind of Governor Steve Beshear's communications with Senator Jim Bunning and decided they wanted someone other than Daniel Mongiardo to replace Senator Jim Bunning when, he, Senator Jim Bunning resigned?
Could this be why Trey Grayson has formed an exploratory committee, a move that allows him to raise and spend campaign money? When he, Trey Grayson, has said repeatedly "I have no plans to run against Senator Bunning," Grayson said in the statement. "This exploratory committee will allow me to travel the commonwealth, meet with potential supporters and lay the foundation for a campaign."
As we all know truth is sometimes stranger than fiction and Kentucky politics can even be stranger than truth or fiction.
I suggest if we are Patient the answers to the above questions will be forthcoming, because most of the folks I know involved in politics are like "old refrigerators" they can't keep anything.

Mountaintop Removal Refuse Fight Still Raging In Appalachia
The Obama administration is set to ask the courts to overturn an 11th hour Bush policy change that now allows the dumping of surface mining refuse 100ft near streams.
Governor Steve Beshear, Attorney General Jack Conway, Congressman John Yarmuth and Congressman Ben Chandler has sent protest letters to the EPA asking them to reject Bush's policy change a few months ago.
Right or wrong; that organized protest backfired as dozens of Kentucky Coal County Legislators protested the protest. The political fallout in the coal fields is still evolving. We may not know how bad it really is for a few months.

Conservatives for Patients Rights Leader Brings Legacy of Fraud
Over here in Paducah, Kentucky we have some ultra-Conservative media. The Paxton Media Group owns several Western Kentucky newspapers including the Paducah Sun and they have their own little radio station that they allow propoganda masters such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingram to spew forth their venomous talking points. Lately, I have heard radio commercials from a group called "Conservatives for Patients Rights" running ads against the 50 million people who have no health insurance.

Torture Debate Quite Troubling
It has been clear for a long time that under the Bush Administration torture was widely accepted and used. While this fact is troubling in itself, what is really disappointing is that some people seem determined to defend it. Whether by partisan hackery, or just sheer ignorance some people refuse to admit the plain and simple fact.

Experience Matters: Daniel Mongiardo has the Experience, Jack Conway Does Not
The latest installment of results from our most recent survey on Gay marriage, Mountaintop Removal and experience shows that all political groups in Kentucky agree on one thing; experience matters. The results are so clear that no-one can deny that experience may be the most important element in the Democratic primary for US Senate.
Of course Daniel Mongiardo has the experience to.....Read more.

Credit Card Reform on the Way
Like millions of Americans I have had a credit card. I noticed once you had money charged to one of these things, sometimes even if you paid over the minimum balance all the time, you just never seemed to get it all paid off. I have since paid off my credit cards and decided I don't want another.

Shelbyville, Kentucky April 22, 2009
Last night the Shelby County Democratic Party held their Jefferson Jackson day dinner (Click Here To View Photos). Kudos to the Shelby County Democrats and a big shout out to Ann Ellerkamp, Vice Chair of the Shelby County Dems and a State Central Executive Committee member.
This was a good night for Shelby County Democrats and I hope to see a similar event here in Hardin County, but I'm not holding my breath.
Jack Conway and Daniel Mongiardo spoke at the event, but didn't really go into details about their stances on the issues, but they deserve credit for helping the Shelby County Democrats make this event a success.
Todd Hollenbach, Kentucky State Treasurer also spoke at he event and Todd's father was the MC.
The 70year old MC and I'll call him Judge Todd Hollenbach was funny as all get out and I've posted the video of his Uncle Phil story (Rural Kentucky At It's Best!), he also poked a little fun at yours truly, the Hillbilly, and I've posted that video also.
